Loss, Grief and Bereavement
How to Cope with Painful Memories
Loss comes in our life in many shapes and forms. It can be anything from losing your job, ending a relationship or death of someone dear to us. The grief is a natural response to loss. The period of grief is really important and everyone haves he’s one way of dealing with it. There are not right or wrong ways to deal with it. However there are healthy ways of dealing and processing those painful memories.
Sometimes the pain seems too much to even acknowledge, so we push it away or maybe we don’t feel like we have enough emotional support in order to allow ourselves to be vulnerable. Sometimes we might feel that we need to be strong for others as our feelings are not that important. You might experience overwhelming feelings of anger, guilt or deep sadness.
There are 5 stages of grief, which are easier to navigate if you have the emotional support you need from a grief councilor with experience. In the therapy session you will realise that acknowledging the pain and your unexpected feelings is the first step into healing. Isolating yourself or shouting off is not the healthier way of coping with your grief. Sharing your loss can make the grief feel lighter. That is easier to be done in a safe environment with the emotional support from an empathetic therapist.
If you find it difficult to speak face to face, I offer therapy session online via Skype and WhatsApp. Please don’t hesitate to contact me. You can just drop me a text by phone or by email. You find my details on first page of my website.
